Cambodia Commemorates 46th Anniversary of January 7 Victory Day over Khmer Rouge Genocidal Regime

Over twenty thousands Cambodian compatriots from all walks of life gathered in front of Koh Pich Theatre here this morning to commemorate the 46th Anniversary of January 7 Victory Day over the Khmer Rouge Genocidal Regime (Jan. 7, 1979-Jan. 7, 2025).
The above-said commemorative event was presided over by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, President of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Honorary President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King and CPP Honorary President, and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister and CPP Vice President.
Addressing the mass meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen briefly recalled on the historical facts of nearly 3 decades of civil war, and some process of the Cambodia’s struggle for the January 7 Victory Day and full peace in late 1998.
After this historic victory, Cambodia has successfully challenged and developed the nation until today with unity, political stability, democracy, rule of law and development, he underlined. He further said CPP is the symbolic of Cambodia’s change and challenges against poverty, transformed herself from a lower middle-income economy and is developing into an upper middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income nation in 2050.
