The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have expressed their intention to strengthen and explore potential areas of cooperation.

The commitment was made in a meeting held here on Jan. 6 between NBC Governor H.E. Dr. Chea Serey and a delegation of SBP and ORAMITSU Holdings AG. The meeting was aimed to explore potential cooperation between NBC and SBP and provided an opportunity for the SBP delegation to learn about the operations of the Bakong payment system, the NBC said in statement.

On the occasion, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey briefed her guests of the history of Cambodia's monetary system, highlighting key milestones and the significant progress achieved in recent years, read the statement.

The NBC governor also emphasised the rapid adoption of QR code payment system in Cambodia, which is widely used across the country as well as the importance of maintaining financial stability and development of digital financial innovation.
