Almost 3,000 Cases of Road Accidents Happened in 2024
AKP Phnom Penh, January 09, 2025 --
Cambodia has recorded 2,844 cases of road accidents during the twelve months of 2024, according to H.E. Phorn Rim, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The accidents claimed 1,509 lives, representing a 14 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2023, and injured 3,720 others.
The spokesperson added that more than half of the accidents occurred at night.
Excessive speeding, violation of the priority rights, drunk driving, not wearing a helmet, and overtaking and turning in dangerous situations are among the major causes of the road accidents in Cambodia.
Competent authorities have continued to urge the public's attention and compliance with the traffic laws to avoid the accidents.
