Ministry of Commerce Holds High-Level Meetings with Japanese Institutions to Expand Markets

A delegation of the Ministry of Commerce led by H.E. Secretary of State Samheng Bora has held early this week a series of high-level meetings with key institutions in Kochi Prefecture, Japan focusing on strengthening cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, and innovation.
The meetings included discussions with the Kochi Industrial Promotion Centre, Kochi National University, and the Mayor of Nankoku City, according to a ministry’s news release.
In the meeting with Mr. Hideomi Doi, President of the Kochi Industrial Promotion Centre, the discussion centred on strategies to enhance industrial and trade relations between Cambodia and Kochi Prefecture.
The meeting emphasised the identification of opportunities to promote Cambodian products, particularly in the agricultural and agro-processing sectors, to international markets.
Additionally, both parties explored avenues for industrial innovation to support sustainable growth.
The meeting with Dr. Hiroyuki Ukeda, President of Kochi National University, focused on fostering collaborative partnerships in research and development, particularly in agriculture, agro-processing, and new product development.
Dr. Hiroyuki Ukeda expressed strong interest in joint research initiatives and knowledge-sharing programmes aimed at promoting sustainable development and innovation.
The meeting with Mr. Kouzou Hirayama, Mayor of Nankoku city, highlighted building a strong partnership between Nankoku city and Cambodia. Key areas of focus included enhancing agricultural productivity, integrating technology into industries, and expanding market access to drive economic growth and mutual prosperity.
These meetings mark a significant step toward establishing long-term partnerships to strengthen economic, industrial, and technological ties between Cambodia and Kochi Prefecture, the ministry said.
