Cambodia, U.S. Commemorate 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Cambodia and the United States of America on Jan. 24 celebrated the
75th Anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relation, reflecting the enduring bonds of friendship and mutual cooperation across various fields, strengthening the cooperative ties between the two nations.
In his remarks at the Gala Reception commemorating the event, co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, at the National Museum, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, lauded the progress of the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries.
H.E. PRAK Sokhonn expressed Cambodia's deep appreciation of the cordial ties with the United States, founded on mutual respect, and is pleased with the positive momentum seen in our bilateral relations in recent years, ranging from trade and people-to-people connectivity to the resumption of military-to-military cooperation.
H.E. Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the key areas of cooperation, including the repatriation of cultural treasures, noting, "These treasures, once taken from our land, now stand as powerful symbols of justice, respect for history, and the United States' unwavering commitment to preserving and honouring Cambodia's rich cultural heritage." He also praised the partnership in this regard as "exemplary, demonstrated by the successful repatriation of hundreds of artifacts and our extensive cooperation in preserving UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Angkor and Preah Vihear."
On broader areas of collaboration, H.E. PRAK Sokhonn expressed sincere gratitude for the U.S.' support in advancing Cambodia's socio-economic development. He emphasised that from trade and investment partnerships to education, cultural heritage preservation and de-mining efforts, the contributions of the U.S. have been pivotal. He reaffirmed Cambodia's unwavering commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship for the mutual benefit of both nations.
