His Majesty the King Extends Medical Stay in China
AKP Phnom Penh, March 31, 2026 -- His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, will extend his stay in China for further medical checkups, the Ministry of the Royal Palace announced at noon today.
Following a thorough examination by a team of Chinese doctors at a hospital in Beijing, His Majesty’s health checkup has not yet been completed, the statement added.
The monarch still has certain health issues that require continued monitoring and treatment. Chinese doctors have advised him to remain in Beijing for the time being, the Ministry underlined.
The Ministry of the Royal Palace also conveyed greetings and best wishes from His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother to the Cambodian people on the occasion of the upcoming Khmer Traditional New Year.
His Majesty and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother departed for Beijing on Feb. 27, 2026 for a routine medical visit, which typically lasts about a month.
The monarchs usually travel to China twice a year for medical checkups.
