H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), received a courtesy call and held a working meeting on June 11 in Tokyo with H.E. NISHIMURA Yasutoshi, former Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and current Member of the House of Representatives of Japan.
Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister during the working discussion were H.E. Chum Sounry, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Japan, along with leadership from the CDC and the Ministry of Commerce.
The working discussion took place in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the political trust and robust cooperation between Cambodia and Japan. H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation and high regard for the active role and vision previously demonstrated by H.E. NISHIMURA Yasutoshi during his tenure as Minister of METI, during which he consistently supported economic and trade progress and promoted Japanese investment to the ASEAN region in general, and to the Kingdom of Cambodia in particular.
H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister took the opportunity to highlight updates on Cambodia's socio-economic development, improvements to its transportation infrastructure and logistics sector, as well as the Royal Government's focus on enhancing a more favourable and open business environment under the new Law on Investment, aimed at providing strong facilitation and support to all Japanese investment projects.
At the same time, H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister informed H.E. NISHIMURA about the Royal Government of Cambodia's firm commitment to cracking down on and eliminating online scams.
For his part, H.E. NISHIMURA Yasutoshi extended his warmest welcome to H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister and the high-level Cambodian delegation on their mission as high representatives of the Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia, as well as their "door-knocking" investment promotion mission in Japan. He commended Cambodia's socio-economic development and its strengthening political stability.
He expressed his strong goodwill to continue playing an active role in promoting friendly ties and cooperation between the governments of Cambodia and Japan, as well as elevating private sector relations between the two nations to another level.
This working discussion not only reflects the friendship and political trust between the leaders of both countries but also strengthens and expands all-round cooperation to a deeper level, in line with the spirit of the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" between Cambodia and Japan, making it more interconnected and vibrant for the ultimate benefit and shared prosperity of both nations.
