AKP Phnom Penh, July 27, 2026 —

UN Special Rapporteur Thomas Andrews conducted an on-the-ground inspection Monday afternoon of a disputed border area, where Thai forces have recently positioned shipping containers and razor-wire barriers.

During the visit to the Boeung Trakuon area in Thmar Puok district, Banteay Meanchey province, Mr. Andrews and his delegation closely examined the geographical layout, security conditions, and the daily lives of local residents residing along the border.

The inspection was facilitated by Banteay Meanchey Provincial Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey alongside relevant local officials to ensure a smooth, transparent, and comprehensive assessment of the situation on the ground.
