AKP Phnom Penh, July 29, 2026 --

Cambodian Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology H.E. Thor Chetha, led a delegation to visit to the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) in Helsinki, Finland, on July 29, seeking for cooperation on meteorological development with Finland.

H.E. Thor Chetha and his delegation held discussions with Mr. Harri Pietarila, Director of Technical Services, and the FMI technical team to learn from Finland's experience in meteorological science, operational forecasting, digital innovation, and institutional development.

The meeting focused in particular on how FMI applies advanced technologies in scientific research and operational services to deliver accurate and reliable weather and climate information, thereby supporting government decision-making and enhancing public safety.

The Minister expressed confidence that the institute could support Cambodia's long-term meteorological development through technical cooperation and capacity building.
