Cambodia, Croatia to Deepen Bilateral Relations and Expand Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, October 19, 2026 --
Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs H.E. Gordan Grlić-Radman have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The commitment was made during a meeting at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Monday, when Samdech Thipadei received the Croatian minister and his delegation for a courtesy call and working discussion.
During the meeting, H.E. Gordan Grlić-Radman expressed his profound gratitude for Cambodia’s warm welcome and hospitality. He also welcomed the progress in bilateral relations, reflected in the conclusion of memoranda of understanding on visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders and cooperation between the National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations of Cambodia and the Diplomatic Academy of Croatia.
The Croatian Minister highlighted further opportunities for the two countries to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation for the benefit of their peoples, while enhancing Cambodia’s connectivity with the European Union.
In response, Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed the Croatian Minister’s historic official visit to Cambodia and expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral relations and cooperation. He also underscored the potential to deepen cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and tourism.
Regarding mine clearance and unexploded ordnance (UXO), the Cambodian Premier congratulated Croatia on successfully fulfilling its obligations under the Ottawa Convention and emphasised that the Royal Government of Cambodia has always attached great importance to this issue. He noted that, having experienced war, Cambodia understands the devastating consequences of landmines and UXO.
In this regard, he highly valued the cooperation between the two countries in mine clearance and UXO removal and welcomed Croatia’s support through the provision of technology, experience-sharing and technical expertise to further enhance the effectiveness of Cambodia’s mine clearance efforts.
Both leaders discussed and agreed to continue strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in key potential areas, including politics and diplomacy, trade and investment, tourism, clean energy and security.
