Cambodian Senior Minister H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), expressed deep appreciation to Luxembourg for its continued support of humanitarian mine action in Cambodia during a courtesy meeting with Mr. Thomas Lammar, Chargé d'Affaires of the Luxembourg Embassy to Laos responsible for development cooperation with Cambodia.

During the meeting at the CMAA headquarters in Phnom Penh on Monday, H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch commended the diplomatic ties between the two nations and thanked the Government and people of Luxembourg for their significant contributions toward addressing Cambodia's unexploded ordnance (UXO) legacy, particularly through the "Clearing for Results" project.

H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch emphasised that Luxembourg's support extends beyond charitable clearance, directly contributing to risk reduction, poverty alleviation, socioeconomic development, and improved livelihoods for communities in former conflict zones.

While highlighting 30 years of mine action progress, the Senior Minister warned that leftover cluster munitions and heavy weaponry deployed by Thai forces along the border pose persistent threats requiring urgent action, additional resources, and extended timelines.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Royal Government of Cambodia remains committed to tackling the issue through the newly established National Mine Action Policy 2026-2035, which sets clear targets toward making Cambodia free from the impact of explosive ordnance.
